Thai TV channel shall release a report on Shans in Thailand on Sunday, 24 May, according to www.thaipbs.or.th .

It will be presented in 4 parts, one each Sunday, at 16:30-17:00. The report shall look into Shan traditions, language and historical connections with Thailand.

It is a follow-up on the highly successful. “Thai Yai-Displaced Labor” which was released on 22 March. The documentary recorded the plight of the Shan migrant laborers in particular, and Burmese migrants in general, following a rape-murder case involving 2 Shan migrant workers that took place in Chiangmai on 7 February.

Shans, called Thai Yai by Thais, are historic and linguistic cousins of Thais and Laotians.
